Chelsea Linked With Major Signings

While the news that Chelsea are very keen on Atletico Madrid starlet Sergio Aguero, is hardly new, it does seem that the club could be making headway on landing the Argentinean international striker. The son-in-law of Argentina's national coach, Diego Maradona, has been dropping broad hints that his future may lie away from Atletico Madrid over the past couple of weeks and it seems Chelsea head the list of clubs ready to land the player in a deal reputed to be worth around £40m. The only problem to the deal could be if Manchester City's new boss Roberto Mancini, decides to make a similar kind of offer for the player, but that, as of now, is by no means certain.

Another striker that Chelsea are reportedly close to securing a deal for is Wolfsburg's talented Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko. Dzeko has been trailed by Manchester United, Arsenal and Milan recently and all three clubs were reportedly interested in the striker. However it seems that as a result of this interest, the players asking price has shot up. Arsenal were reportedly ready to spend £15m on the player in January, however Chelsea are now thought to be so keen that they are ready to offer the German side £25m for the player, a price which will see all other interested parties lose interest, although there are reports from Italy suggesting that Claudio Ranieri could fend off Chelsea's interest to land the player.

If you believe the Sun newspaper, then Dzeko may not be the only signing Chelsea are going to attempt to make from the Bundesliga as the Blues are also reported to be interested in acquiring Bayern Munich's talented midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. This interest seems to follow on from the news that Bayern Munich's other talented midfielder, Franck Ribery, whom Chelsea were said to be interested in, has reportedly agreed a summer transfer to Real Madrid.

Peter Cech's form has been a worry and as a result there has been speculation that the Czech Republic international could be replaced. West Ham's Robert Green has been mooted in the press as a potential replacement for the Czech keeper should manager Ancelotti decide to bring in a replacement.

However the biggest transfer rumors this week concern Chelsea making a move for two Liverpool stars. With the Anfield club in seeming free-fall and beset by crippling financial worries, Ancelotti has reportedly made a tentative £30m offer for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and has earmarked a £60m move for striker Fernando Torres in the Summer, should Liverpool fail to secure a place in the Champions League for next season.

However one player linked with the club has distanced himself from a move. Luis Suarez, Ajax's Uruguayan winger, had been reported as having signed a pre-contract agreement with the club to move in January. But Suarez has moved to deny this during the week stating;

"Anyone can keep on talking about Barcelona, Manchester United or Chelsea but at the moment I have my mind focused on Ajax where I desire to stay at least until June.

"I want to stay at Ajax, so personally there isn't any offer for me from other teams."
