Arsenal Meets Barcelona Live in UEFA Champions League

There will be an atmosphere of anticipation at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal meets Barcelona in one of the biggest UEFA Champions League matchups in years. Once the draw revealed the matchup, the excitement from both sets of fans has been steadily increasing. This is hardly surprising considering the way both teams play football which has often been pointed out by fans to be the personification of perfection in the sport.

The stable of stars that adorn Barcelona and Arsenal's lineups are also the stuff of fantasy football. Barcelona boast perhaps the best player on the planet currently in the form of Lionel Messi, the Argentine who has scored countless beautiful goals and made many more. The Swedish enigma Zlatan Ibrahimovic partners him in attack and is capable of moments of magic that belies his physical stature. The Catalan club's midfield is dictated by the synchronous symphonic play from the Spanish duo of Iniesta and Xavi who form the perfect axis. Barcelona's defence might be their weakest area but Gerard Pique and Carlos Puyol man the fortress well enough on most occasions.

The Gunners from North London do not pale in comparison. Leading the line would usually be Robin Van Persie but the injured Dutchman's place will go to the equally capable Daniel Bendtner. Working in tandem with him will be the marvelous Andrei Arshavin and Theo Walcott who both ally pace with inventive genius. Pulling the strings in midfield is the much sought after Cesc Fabregas who would be eager to face his former club. Arsenal are also suspect at the back although Sol Campbell will be enjoying his indian summer with the club he rejoined in the transfer window.

Some of these players might be missing from the first leg in England due to injuries. Barcelona will miss the services of Iniesta who has to sit out due to a hamstring strain. His place would surely go to Thierry Henry who will make an emotional return to the club where he spent 8 years of his career at Arsenal.

Arsenal have received the biggest blow to their Champions League hopes with news that playmaker Fabregas would most likely have to miss the first leg. A knee injury suffered in the club's latest match has landed him on the treatment table. Last minute medical treatment could yet see him line up against Barcelona and Fabregas would be keen to pit his talents against the club that many expect him to return to in the near future.

The 2006 Champions League final was the most recent time when the Gunners had to play Barcelona. Spanish flair came out on top on the night as Henry experienced the biggest disappointment of his career with Arsenal. It was not long after that the Frenchman departed for Barcelona as once again, football's ability in perfectly timed dramatic irony was once again illustrated.

The expectations and excitement surrounding the Arsenal vs Barcelona live stream could end in disappointment if both teams suffer an attack of nerves. There is a lot riding on each game as the Champions League approaches its conclusion. The knockout format is well and truly underway and no second chances will be available for each team. This could lead to players adopting a safety-first approach that could resemble shadowboxing, instead of going at each other's throats in search of the knockout punch.

Living In The Past Glory

The rumors about Ronaldinho's departure from Nou Camp could have only strengthened by his failure against Madrid. No other player in this current side can commence loyalty from the Nou Camp fans like this man. For the regular Nou Camp fans he has been an emotional hero. The time when he reached Barcelona he was just another kid, but he turned this side into a world winning team in his first two seasons. When he arrived at Barcelona was rebuilding from a very bad phase in their history - Madrid's Galacticos policy (it was a total failure) overshadowed the Barcelona club. They were losing good players to their main rivals and were nowhere in picture in European competition. But Ronaldinho's heroics against all odds turned the prayers of Barcelona fans to reality. No one will ever deny the fact that he was responsible for the great results we had in the past three years.

When Ronaldinho arrived in Barcelona the club and he had so many things in common. Both have to prove a point. Ronaldinho was heralded as the brightest talent to come out of Brazil in recent times, but his performance was never justifying it. He had a great world cup, but again those performances were far in between. For the Barcelona fans he was the only hope left to come out of the Galacticos shadow and reclaim their lost stature in Spain and Europe. Together they overcame all the obstacles. He was the main person responsible for the two Spanish league titles and the Champions league (surprising only the second one) which Barcelona won. Once again Barcelona reclaimed the stature of the best club in Europe and looking poised for more big things; but somewhere both stumbled. Ronaldinho was rightly criticized for his poor performance in last world cup, but everyone expected him to comeback to this Barcelona side and shows his magic along side the likes of Messi. But he failed terribly.

There was recent rumors of his addiction (over addiction) to nightlife and his lack of interest in training. As a big Ronaldinho fan I never believed these allegations but now i have to say that i slowly started believing it. His performance on the field justifies these allegations. Lack of training was clearly seen on field where he struggled to go past ordinary defenders. To add insult to injury Barcelona started playing better without him (Two season ago the story was different). Barcelona based media have been asking for his head for sometime, but to his rescue the Nou Camp fans still vociferously supports him. Is he taking that support for granted? The support is because of the sweet things he has presented to them in the past, but how much time he can survive on his past. One day they will also start asking for his head and that day will come soon.

What lies ahead for this two time World Player of the Year? There are actually two things:

1) He can train harder, get fitter and win back all the trust of his fans, media and most importantly his team mates. He can prove back to the world that he is still the same entertainer.

2) He can move to another club (this looks likely) where he can try to recreate all his magic. But with his current form and attitude to training how many big clubs will be willing to take such a risk is yet to be seen. If Milan loses Kaka to Madrid then there is a high chance of he moving to San Siro.

But whatever decision he take, he should understand that his carefree attitude will not get him through this difficult phase. He needs to train harder and get back his fitness level. He needs to play for the team (rather than for himself, which ever team it maybe) - He should always remember "When the Team wins, He wins".

NB: "You cannot win the War without fighting it".

The Chelsea Shirt - One Hundred and Four Years of History

Chelsea Football Club, affectionately nicknamed "The Blues" are a professional football club in England. They play in the elite Premiership and are one of the most successful teams in the history of English football. They have been English League Champions three times and have won the FA cup on four occasions.

Chelsea's home ground is Stamford Bridge in Fulham, West London. They have played there since the team was founded in 1905. On a slightly pedantic note of geographical accuracy, Chelsea are not actually based in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea, rather in Hammersmith and Fulham. Chelsea FC was founded in March 1905 in the Rising Sun pub opposite Stamford Bridge. They occupied Stamford Bridge shortly afterwards, taking over the site from the London Athletics Club which had used the facility for the previous 28 years.

The Chelsea Shirt for home games has always been blue, although it was not always the same dark shade it is today. The strip was finished with white shorts and blue socks. In 1912, royal blue shirts were introduced. The now familiar blue shorts were added by Tommy Docherty in the 1960s. White socks were also added at this time as it was thought that this scheme, not in use by any other club made Chelsea more distinctive. The away kit is typically all yellow or all white, however this has gone through some interesting deviations over the years. The first away shirt comprised black and white stripes. In the 1980s a bizarre mint green kit was sported by the Chelsea players. The 1990s saw the Chelsea shirt for away games at its most distinctive with red and white checks, and a grey and tangerine colour scheme all being tried. Large numbers of sponsors have graced the front of the Chelsea shirt over the years. These have included Gulf Air, Coors and most latterly Samsung.

The club crest attached to the Chelsea shirt has gone through four major iterations during the history of the club. The initial crest design was based around the image of a Chelsea Pensioner. This gave rise to the club's nickname of "The Pensioners". This crest was in use for fifty years when the design was changed as part of a modernization program going on at the club. A temporary solution was to use the C.F.C initials for a year until in 1953 when the new crest of a blue lion locking backwards and holding a staff was introduced. This crest took it's inspiration from the coat of arms of the Borough Of Chelsea. The crest also featured two footballs and three red roses. This was the first crest to appear on the Chelsea shirt, which was unadorned until this time. Another bout of modernisation in 1986 saw the heraldic lion replaced by a more realistic looking lion in yellow standing over the C.F.C initials. The final big design change came in 2004 where the old design was reinstated for the approaching centenary. This design has appeared on the shirts in different colour schemes. such as white and gold.

It is to be hoped that this brief article has given an interesting background into the shirt and crest of one of England's most successful and famous teams.

Grand Slam Sunday - Liverpool vs Manchester United & Arsenal vs Chelsea

Sunday 16 December 2007 has been billed "Grand Slam Sunday" because the top four teams in the Premiership go head to head as they pull ever further from the rest of the league. Fourth placed Liverpool begin the action at lunchtime when they host champions Manchester United.

Liverpool have been doing well of late, bar a 3-1 defeat at Reading last weekend. They come into the match off the back of a 4-0 hammering of Marseille in France, a result which assured their place in the knockout phase of the Champions League.

Second placed United beat struggling Fulham and Derby County in their last two games but they will face a much sterner test in a Liverpool team in which Steven Gerrard has found the net in his last seven consecutive matches.

United have had the better of recent meetings and have won five of the last six Premiership matches against Rafa Benitez's side. United have beaten Liverpool in their last three Premiership league matches and ironically the player who scored the winner against them last season, John O'Shea, was also the last person to score against United for Liverpool. He netted an own goal during United's 2-1 victory against the Reds back in 2004.

You just about have time to catch your breath when the match ends to prepare for the second offering of the afternoon, Arsenal vs Chelsea. The Gunners took the Premiership by storm for most of the first half of the season but a couple of poor results against Middlesbrough and Newcastle has seen their lead at the top reduced to a single point. Arsenal are still undefeated at home this season and Chelsea need to become the first team this season to beat them on their own turf if they want to catch them.

Chelsea have been in great form in the Premiership of late and have won seven of their last eight matches, including the the last three in a row. They have also conceded just one goal in this sequence and coupled with Arsenal's water-tight defence, a close, cagey encounter is expected. Arsenal have not managed to record a home win over Chelsea since October 2003 while the last two matches between the pair ended 1-1 last season.

More of the same is to be expected as indeed the first fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United as none of the four clubs will want to give anything away as the halfway stage of the season fast approaches.

Soccer Fitness Training - Tips For Peak Performance on the Soccer Field

Great soccer fitness training can elevate your game helping you accomplish the next level of play or the next level of your career. The right program from a good trainer or coach can be the difference between going pro and leaving it all behind after college or high school. When considering soccer fitness training, it's important to understand the basics to make sure your training is as well rounded as possible. It's important to make sure you are hitting on all the most important areas of training, including the proper nutrition, adequate warm-up, and specific drills for endurance, strength, agility and speed.

The Soccer Training Diet

While, it's obvious a certain level of fitness is involved to be an excellent soccer player, it should also be noted that the food you eat is vital to how you play and the player you become. To achieve a healthy diet you need to consider what are you eating. Get rid of the bad and increase the good. Take a notebook and record everything you eat for a week. For inspiration, rent and watch the movie Supersize Me. If that does not change your outlook on fast food, nothing will.

Once you cut out fast food and all the junk it's important to increase the good foods in your diet to a recommended calorie intake that can be established with your coach based for your height, muscle development and activity level. Fresh fruit, whole grains and lean meats are all amazing sources of fiber, protein and iron all of which you need to build muscle and speed. Even more important than your daily diet is the food you eat directly before a game. Avoid fried or fatty foods, whole milk, cheese, marbled meat and anything super sweet. It's also a good idea to avoid foods that digest harshly, like beans, pickled cucumbers and spices.

The Soccer Training Warm-Up

A good warm-up is essential for an effective daily workout routine and, especially, on game days. A good warm-up will raise your heart rate slowly and stretch your muscles well for the strenuous activity ahead. This warm-up should include flexibility exercises, a light jog and a good game of keep away in which you and the other players circle up and go through a variety of juggling challenges, one on one drills and games of possession. This gets your body and mind prepared for the action.

The Soccer Training Workout

For training your body to handle the stress of intense soccer action, it's important to have the right kind of workout to build the muscle you need and develop the skills necessary to perform your position at a high level. Your workout should include a routine geared around a variety of exercises including aerobic, anaerobic, plyometirc, balance exercises and some creative techniques to keep your muscles guessing and from getting stagnant in their development. For aerobic, jogging on a daily basis is a great way to keep your muscles toned and work your heart to stay in great cardio shape. Anaerobic, which is generally in the form of interval training, is the best way for soccer players to increase speed and endurance. The other forms of soccer training can be developed with the help of your coach, trainer and doctor to find the best mix of all the different exercises for your specific body and goals.

Success Lessons From Soccer - How To Win or Lose In The Game Of Life

Soccer matches are all about scoring goals and being winners. As a result, soccer can hold up a mirror to life since many humans also want to achieve goals and to be winners in the game of life. There is much to be learned about life in general from soccer players, managers and commentators.

When you listen to commentators on soccer matches, the key words they use again and again when teams are winning are words about character and attitude like belief, excitement, confidence, effort and so on. Soccer skills and strategies are important but mean little without the right attitude.

Team managers urge their players to show focus, determination and maximum effort. They tell them they should expect to win and not to show too much respect for their opponents no matter how famous they are.

I love listening to the comments of the great soccer managers. They have all been to hell and back. They are praised and popular when their teams win. They are criticised and even sacked when their teams fail to win. They know the heights of elation and the depths of despair. They have to find ways to deal with both and to keep motivating their teams to win.

Gordon Strachan took over as manager of Celtic, one of the top two clubs in Scotland, in 2005. It was not long before he experienced "the worst night of my life"

Bratislava beat Celtic 5-0 in the Champions league, the top European competition. His watch stopped after the match and he still wears it to remind himself that it was the worst night of his life. Celtic, the pride of Scotland, had been humiliated by a less famous team.

Other failures seemed small to him by comparison. We can all learn to deal with difficult situations by reminding ourselves of worst situations in our past or by imagining how much worse our lives could be than they actually are.

None of us knows for sure what will happen to us tomorrow. We could be seriously ill or even dead. Gordon has faced this possibility already. He told the media that on his gravestone he would like these words carved:

"This is better than that night in Bratislava."

He uses the humour of exaggeration to deal with the criticisms of the media when things go wrong. A reporter commented when his team lost a match in Scotland:

"Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it? "

"No," said Strachan. "I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home,
become an alcoholic and maybe jump off a bridge. Hmmm....I think I can
take it, yeah."

He knows the importance of positive thinking if you wish to achieve success.
One reporter foolishly asked: "There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here?"

Strachan replied: "Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here.
I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick; down negative man,
down."

Strachan often speaks with disarming honesty and schoolboy cheek. He is ready to admit that he and his players are not always at their best. He is ready to face reality. Facing up to reality is a key characteristic of the successful.

When he managed a team in England, a reporter asked him: "So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?"

Strachan replied: "What areas? Mainly that big green one out there...."

Strachan has had his defeats but recently he has led his latest team, Celtic, to undisputed victory in the Scottish Premier League. He is widely accepted as a great manager.

Another great manager now works in the English Premier League. He is Jose Mourihno, the manager of Chelsea. He came to England in June 2004 and soon showed his confidence in himself and his players. He wants only to be judged by the results. A good manager wins. A bad one loses:

"I'm not a defender of old or new football managers. I believe in good ones and bad ones; those that achieve success and those that don't. Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one"

He soon proved himself to be a 'special one' in England as well as in Portugal, his native country. As the name 'the special one' suggests he believes in himself in a big way. A key factor in his success in England is his self-belief and a rich Russian backer who allows him to buy the best players in Europe. You can safely bet money that Chelsea will win almost all their matches.

The odds are not great but you could put £100 on Chelsea to win and make an easy £26 from your bet. Of course, this does not always work out. No team is perfect!

Mourinho is passionate about soccer but retains his sense of perspective and humour. Recently he was asked in London if he was concerned about losing the championship to his main rivals, Manchester United. His reply was typical of him:

"No, I'm more concerned about bird 'flu." The assembled press started laughing.

"Seriously; it's that swan in Scotland that concerns me. It's not that far from here!" (The swan was the first creature with bird 'flu in the UK in 2006)

Over the last few weeks, his team, Chelsea, have been criticised for having players sent off for breaking the rules. When Jose was asked about his success away from home against West Brom, he commented ironically:

"Maybe we won because we played with ten men. That is our best tactic at the moment."

However, he realises that the main reason Chelsea win so often is as follows:"We have top players and, sorry if I'm arrogant, we have a top manager."

Public confidence is so rare in the UK that it is often mistaken for arrogance.

Jose does not believe in having favourites; he believes in the power of the team rather than the individual:

"I don't want special relations with one of them (his players). I hate to speak about individuals. Players don't win you trophies, teams win trophies, squads win trophies."

Another great manager is Harry Redknapp of Portsmouth. He commented about his players in a match with Burnley which ended in a 2-2 draw:

"When the crowd was on their backs no one wanted to try anything in case they got booed. They were defensive and wanted to avoid mistakes."

Harry understands human psychology. If we are too worried about appearing foolish or making mistakes we will fail to make things happen and we will not make full use of our abilities. We go into our shells and play safe.

I remember feeling like this when I played cricket at school. I tried to avoid being anywhere near the ball in case I dropped a catch. It was many years before I realised that I was quite good at catching!

A commentator remarked: "Harry knows how to get his teams going and how to restore their confidence. Now they expect to win at Fratton Park (the Portsmouth ground). They firmly believe they will win." Recently they have won three games in a row and are on their way to escaping relegation to a lower division.

Another manager, Stuart Pierce, of Manchester City also knows the importance of confidence: "We need to go out and really believe we can play a bit."

What key success lessons can we learn from the above?

Skill is important but attitude is even more important. We should expect to win and not show too much respect for the obstacles in our path whether they are human or otherwise and whether they are real or imaginary. We need to believe in our own ability and expect to win even if this makes us seem arrogant.

We should handle failures by reminding ourselves that things could be much worse. Retaining our sense of humour also helps. Teamwork is a key factor in many types of achievement. We should not be worried about making mistakes whether we are playing soccer or cricket or the game of life.

We need to face up to reality and be willing to be judged by the results we achieve as well as the effort we put in. On the whole, I think, that the effort we expend is more important. We cannot always control the results but we can control the effort we put in. The same manager can lose with one team and win with another. He is still the same person and he still made the same efforts.

I'll leave you with a final quote from Gordon Strachan who has been both a winning and a losing manager:

A reporter asked: "Gordon, can we have a quick word?"

"Velocity", replied Gordon as he walked off.

Liverpool Vs Chelsea

Chelsea will need to overturn a poor recent record away in Big Four matches if they are to defeat Liverpool in the Premiership game at Anfield on February 1.

On paper, Chelsea's away record this season of eight wins, two draws and a single loss, would make them worth betting on. But a closer look shows that the wins have come against weaker opponents.

Of Chelsea's last seven away games against Big Four opponents, they have drawn three and lost four, including the confidence-sapping 3-0 hiding at Old Trafford. Neither does their recent patchy away form offer much encouragement for spread bettors wanting to back Chelsea: their last three Premiership away games have brought two draws and a loss.

The good news for Chelsea is that Liverpool have also been faltering in their race for a first League title since 1990. A run of four draws and two wins from their last six games at Anfield is not the football of champions.

With Chelsea finding away wins elusive and Liverpool struggling for home wins, a draw might look the attractive sports spread betting option. But the two sides realize the importance of three points after seeing Manchester United surge past them.

Certainly, both teams have been feeling the heat from Old Trafford, and showing signs of strain. Chelsea striker Nicholas Anelka spoke this week of the 'absolute necessity' to defeat Liverpool if his side is to challenge for the Premiership, echoing his boss Luiz Felipe Scolari's comments about a 'must-win game' ahead of the 3-0 drubbing at Old Trafford. Some of Chelsea's pressure seems self-imposed.

Meanwhile, Liverpool also showed signs of feeling intimidated by Manchester United when boss Rafa Benitez entered into a well-publicized war of words with rival manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Each rival should take heart from Ferguson's prediction that Manchester United will falter soon.

An away win for Chelsea would be hugely significant. Wins at Anfield for Jose Mourinho's side were important stepping stones on the way to lifting the Premier League in 2005 and 2006. An away win would also restore the confidence sapped at Old Trafford three weeks ago.

Chelsea know they must start beating the Big Four teams. The rot set in back in October, when Liverpool ended an 86-game unbeaten run in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge through Xabi Alonso's deflected goal. A further loss at home to Arsenal followed, then came the away defeat to Manchester United.

For their part, Liverpool need to recover the inspirational form which saw them thrash Newcastle 5-1 away in December. A steady stream of draws won't be enough to lift the Premiership trophy.

With both sides under pressure to win, expect goals. Football spread bettors will be interested to know that nearly 20 per cent of Chelsea's strikes have come between the 50th and 60th minutes this season. Conversely, Liverpool have scored nearly 18 per cent of their goals between the 70th and 80th minutes. Spread bettors should also take note that Chelsea have been 1-0 down at half-time in six out of their last seven away games against Big Four opposition, managing to pull back to parity in half of them.

This is the happy season for football spread betters [http://www.sportingindex.com/sportingindexweb/spread-betting/football-uk-season] who are all game for the much awaited game of the season with enthusiasm and excitement.

A Profile Of Joan Laporta, President Of FC Barcelona

Probably the first time many people heard of Joan Laporta was during the campaigning that preceded FC Barcelona's presidential elections in 2003. Joan Gaspart had just stepped down from the position he had filled since 2000, with morale at the club at a low after a series of disastrous seasons coinciding with falling attendances and mounting debts.

Laporta's election promise was simple; if he were voted president he would sign David Beckham, a move that immediately raised his profile both in Barcelona and in the UK, won him tremendous support, and helped catapult him past Lluis Bassat, the presidential favourite.

Elected in June 2003 he soon found that he was unable to keep his promise and David Beckham went to Real Madrid instead - fortunate as it turned out as he failed to live up to his reputation at all.

However, despite his initial setback Laporta's deputy, Sandro Rossell, was able to sign a Brazilian player instead, Ronaldo de Assis Moreira - better known throughout the world as Ronaldinho. Also requiring a new team manager, Laporta's team raised a few eyebrows with the appointment of Frank Rijkaard to the role, due to his relative inexperience and vowed to fight football violence, something his predecessor had overlooked.

With low player morale, the start of the season saw virtually no change in performance and Barcelona fans were calling for changes - many people thought that Rijkaard should go, in favour of someone with the experience to turn the team around.

Barcelona's relative lack of success continued until half way though the season, and suddenly things started to gel. Edgar Davids was loaned from Juventus for the remainder of the 2003-2004 season and although he worked well with Ronaldinho and was popular with fans he was unable to agree terms to remain with the club. After that shaky start, Laporta's first year of reign saw the club achieve what many of their fans thought impossible; they came second in the league to Valencia and earned a place in Champions League for the following year.

With Davids gone the search was on to reinforce the front of the team, as well as sweep out some of the players associated with the old guard. The rash of signings included Cameroon player Samuel Eto'o, as well as Deco and Giuly. All was not going well inside the club though, with Laporta and Rossell in frequent dispute and Rossell reportedly wanting to change Rijkaard despite the season's result, and accusing the management team of being influenced by former Barça player Johan Cruyff.

Barcelona made a good start to the 2004-2005 season and playing consistently and honing Rijkaard's strategy of dominating the opposing team in its own area, Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-0 at Santiago Bernabeu in the November, earning a round of applause from the home supporters. The strong performance lasted the entire season and saw Barcelona finish at the top of the league, although Chelsea knocked them out of Champions League.

This didn't stop Sandro Rossell and four other directors of FC Barcelona from waging war inside the club in a curiously ill-timed rebellion. Eventually Joan Laporta asked for public clarification of where these dissident directors stood; the five resigned in June 2005.

Barcelona's following season was even more successful, with both the domestic and Champions League titles; this time it was Barcelona who knocked Chelsea out of Champions League and went on to win the title against Arsenal. However there was more trouble over the term of Laporta's presidency, with a court decision that the elections should have been called in June.

In the end the election didn't take place - although set for September there was no candidate with enough backing to oppose him and so Joan Laporta remains president to this day.

Watch London's Chelsea Football Club

The Chelsea Football Club is one of London's top sports teams, gaining a loyal and passionate base of followers spanning the world. Chelsea had some early success in the 1960s, frequently placing first or second in their league. Rumours of "hooliganism" and shoddy play in the 1970s and 1980s led to the club's descent into lower divisions. English football requires a number of years of success to reach the top echelons as teams engage in the gradual process of winning the lower divisions to move up to higher divisions.

Chelsea recovered in the 2000s with new ownership and players. Chelsea has won championships in all of the United Kingdom's top leagues and championships: Premier League, Football Association Challenge (FA) Cup, Football League Cup and as English Champions.

The Premier League is the best English football league; founded in 1992, it is world famous and with satellite television coverage claims global fans, and Chelsea has an impressive record for scoring the most points in a season.

The Football League Cup was founded in 1960. It has the best teams in a knockout (single elimination) tournament; less than 100 of the best-of-the-best are invited. Chelsea has won four titles.

Chelsea has been English Champions three times.

English Premiership And The Fan Base

The English Premiership has become one of the best properly organized leagues in the world, due to the fact that clubs from the premiership have been able to prove to the entire world that they are clubs to be respected in the world. This is due to their performances in Europe, I mean in the champions league and the winners cup respectively.

In the last two editions of the champions' league English teams have been able to at least reach the finals. Liverpool FC was able to overcome the AC Milan team the 2006 final, while in the semi-final of the 2007, three English teams namely: Manchester United FC, Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC got to the final, and Liverpool could be said to have lost out narrowly to AC Milan in the final.

The performances of these teams have not only endeared them to the hearts of fans world wide, but Africans, have developed a fanatical system of support for the premiership teams. This is not to say that other leagues such; Laliga with Barcelona FC and Real Madrid FC being the most popular because of football stars such as Ronaldinho, Robinho, Deco, Samuel Eto, Raul Gonzalez just to mention a few.

But the English Premiership is so popular in Africa due to the presence of Africa football stars in the league, when you talk about football stars you will mention the African footballer of the year 2006, Didier Drogba of Cote de voire and Chelsea and also Solomon Kalou, which guarantees a total fanatical commitment from Ivorians, also the presence of Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboe guarantees that Arsenal also have the required followers, same thing goes for other premiership teams that have African Stars in their folds such as Michael Essien of Ghana, Emmanuel Adebayor of Togo and others.

The greatest fan base or followers that I am aware of can be found in the most populous black nation of the world, Nigeria. It is in Nigeria that you have an extension of the English premiership. In the situation mentioned in the first few paragraph, you will notice that some of the followers or fans of English premiership in the countries mentioned above, are fans because one or two stars of such country plays in the premiership team. But in Nigeria, you will find committed and faithful fans of premiership teams in the following categories; professors, lecturers, newspaper editors, TV programme hosts, students, male, female, young and old and even politicians and TV stars are involved in the Craze for premiership football, regardless of whether the teams have a Nigerian or not, not to talk of the team having an African in their fold.

I can authoritatively state that Arsenal FC and Manchester United, have the greatest fan base in Nigeria but, amongst the two teams there is no single nigerian footballer playing for them. Since the creation of the premiership, I have never witnessed such a wild and unrestricted support these two teams are enjoying in Nigeria.

I want to suggest that if the teams in the premiership requires an additional means of generating revenues in Africa through sales of souvenir, I think they should start with fans in Nigeria. You need to visit viewing centres in nigeria whenever a premiership match is going on. You will see the various supporters of the team in their team Jerseys and other souvenirs rooting for their team. Despite all the negative publicities given to Nigerians by the Western media, I still believe that the Nigerian market is the largest market for the highest sales in sports.

African is the home of football, the highest and committed number of fans is based here and it does not matter which team is playing, there will always be a fan base following the teams as they progress every season.

This is therefore an invitation to sport marketers, betting companies and other sport promoters, to creat programmes that will include the whole of Africa. Programmes that will erase discrimination among the African countries and I assure you, you will smile all the way to the bank. The premiership has started and bets are going on, forum are springing up and new programmes and being created by TV stations for sport. There is money in sport marketing.

Arsenal - 5 Injuries in One Game!

English Premier League club Arsenal has halted its streak of three straight losses with a 2-0 victory over Stoke City on Saturday at the Emirates stadium. The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has blamed the injury crisis for such a poor show in the Premier League during the past few weeks.

Even the win on Saturday came at a price. A staggering five players of the Arsenal team picked up injuries during the game! William Gallas (hamstring), Emmanuel Eboue (muscle), Armand Traore (hamstring), Andrey Arshavin (ankle) and Tomas Rosicky (groin) were the players who could not end the game in the state they started in.

Perhaps the Czech Republic midfielder Rosicky's injury was the cruelest of all. Even before the season began, the 29-year old had spent previous eight months sidelined with a knee injury. Arsene Wenger will now have to do without the Cech player.

On the fact that Arsenal players have so far proved more injury-prone than other Premier League clubs, Wenger said: "We pick up more injuries than the other big teams, that is true. You cannot say there is not a reason for it but we have not found it yet." He also said: "It's the worst season for injuries for us. And they are all in the same area - in the offensive side. Last year it was in the defensive side."

Arsenal have so far scored the most goals by a side this season. It remains to be seen however whether they are able to challenge the might of Chelsea at the top of the table or not.

Chelsea FC Stadium Tour

After so many visits to London I finally got the opportunity to do the tour of Chelsea Football Club's stadium. Chelsea FC, for those who have been living under a rock, is one of the top teams in England's Premier League and arguably world's most famous football team. Equally famous is "Stamford Bridge", the home of chelsea FC.

If you are in London I highly recommend the Chelsea FC Stadium tour at Stamford Bridge, particularly since most of us can no longer afford to go to games; the cheapest tickets of this much loved team are around 100 pounds. Even if you are a non-football (soccer) fan its still worth going just to see the difference in the Chelsea Team's dressing room and with what they give their opponents to change in.

The stadium (Stamford Bidge) is the most centrally located of all the London football clubs and is easily accessible by the London Bus & the tube (Fulham tube station). The guided tour cost 15 pounds/person which also includes admission to the Chelsea Museum and takes about couple of hours.

You start the tour at the Chelsea Musuem and go through the press room, Home & Away changing rooms before entering the stadium through the players tunnel.

The team's changing rooms, were surprisingly basic. Each locker in the home changing room was hung with its owner's shirt. Our tour guide opened the locker of "Ballack" and let us take a peak into it. The lockers are clustered by player's common language.

Next came the moment that was for me the highlight of the visit. You walk out of the players tunnel onto the field to the sound of the roaring crowd. (imagination of course, it was an empty stadium, but still...). I had wondered if a tour of an empty stadium (no crowd, no footballers) would feel a bit, well, empty. But it turned out to be more exciting than the game I had been to last year when Chelsea visited California as part of their US tour.

Watch Arsenal vs Liverpool Online Live - Watch Champions League Preview 2008

Arsenal will be facing Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the upcoming Champions League 2008. This will certainly be an exciting match and both managers will be deciding what strategies to use so as to chase both the English Premier League as well as the Champions League titles. The interesting thing is that Liverpool and Arsenal will play each other three times in succession at the start of April, with the quarter-final matches straddling a Premier League encounter at Highbury on April 5.

Arsenal and Liverpool have never before faced each other in European competition, but the platform has been set for a familiar all-England semi-final. Should Liverpool and Chelsea make it through to the last four, they will face each other at that stage of the tournament for the third time in four years, with Rafael Benitez's side having won the past two meetings.

All eyes will be on Arsenal and Liverpool. I think this draw favors Arsenal more because both games will be played in England; therefore Benitez's Champions League experience and knowledge won't matter as much as it would have against a European side. If Arsenal can bottle up Torres, Liverpool will definitely be out.

Although Arsenal may be above Liverpool in the Premier League standings but domestic form has counted for nothing in recent all-English duels. When Chelsea beat Arsenal in 2004 and Liverpool bettered Chelsea in 2005 and 2007, it was the losing side that finished higher in the Premier League.

Benítez got the better of Arsenal in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League second group stage when in charge of Valencia. The teams drew 0-0 at Highbury in December 2002 and met again in their final group match at Mestalla in March 2003, when a 2-1 Valencia victory secured first place in the section for the Spanish side and relegated Arsenal to third.

Liverpool and Arsenal last met in a two-leg tie in the English League Cup semi-final in February 1978. Liverpool won the first leg at Anfield 2-1 and held out for a goalless draw in north London in the return.

Chelsea Merciless Against Arsenal FC

Chelsea FC again at the weekend proved their superiority over their counterpart Arsenal FC; thanks to the brace by their talisman, Didier Drogba. The match was tagged a grudges match by Arsenal fans having lost at home 0-3 to us in the first round of the season.

Arsenal provoked us last season by beating us 2-1 in the first round of the season at Stamford Bridge courtesy of 2 great goals by Fabregas. Ever since they have lost 3 straight games against us- they lost 1-4 at Emirates stadium in the second half of last season, 0-3 again in the first half of this season and the 0-2 loss yesterday. We beat them home and away this season.

The match had started on a good note for them, with the boys attacking seriously and showing some flair. They had revenge at the back of their mind to prove to the world that their loss to us in the first half was by error. But before the 10th minute of the first half the pendulum of victory was already swinging in our direction; Didier Drogba had netted the first goal thereby putting the Arsenal players under intense pressure The first half ended 1 goal in our favour, but the second half saw more fire works by the visiting team.

Our goal keeper Petr Cech proved too had a nut to crack; cordoned off the post making it practically impossible for the Arsene Wenger boys to score. The more they tried to equalize the farther the match got beyond them. And before anyone could say Jack Robinson, Didier Drogba had added a second goal for Chelsea thereby sealing the victory for us. Arsenal were lucky that his free kick hit the cross bar for what would have made it a hat trick for Drogba. The free kick was professionally taken and of course Arsenal's goal stood rooted to the ground as the watched the ball return after hitting the cross bar.

By his performance at the weekend Drogba has shown that we missed him while he was away on national assignment during the Nations' cup tournament in Angola. Wayne Rooney gave him a gap on the scorers' list because of his days of absence from the league, but he has announced his comeback by scoring in his last 2 games. He may catch up again and possibly overtake Rooney to get the top scorer award. Chelsea is really making tremendous progress as far as the contest to this year's premier league title is concerned; and now that they are playing more compact football, I believe they can win the league again and stop Manchester United from getting the title for the fourth time in a roll.

Jose Maurinho As the Coach of Real Madrid

Jose Maurinho is one of the most respected coaches in Europe. This is not only because he knows his job very well, but because he is disciplined and would never take nonsense from anybody. He knows what he wants and demands it, not minding what people would think of him, as long as what he needs would assist him get the needed result.

Jose Maurinho is a pace setter; he is a god father, a disciplinarian and a charismatic coach, whose results speak on his behalf. He may not have been a football player, but as a coach he is fulfilled. He has succeeded where others have failed: he has won several domestic titles and two champions league titles (with FC Porto and Internazionale Milan).

One strong point he has is that he knows how to use what he has to achieve the result he wants. He knows where there are deficiencies and what he needs to cure the deficiency. When he came to Chelsea FC for example, the club was seriously in need of the premiership title, having failed to win it in the past 50years. Maurinho came in, brought in the likes Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Andrea Shevchenko, etc. and won the league back to back, breaking the 50years old jinx. He also won the FA cup, Carling cup and the community shield during his period of stay in Chelsea.

Nobody gave him the chance to win the champions league at Inter-Milan. People had thought that either Barcelona, Chelsea, Man-United, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Olympic Lyon, Liver pool or Bayern Munich would win the league; but coach Maurinho proved them all wrong, defeating Chelsea and Barcelona convincingly along the way. He finally snatched the UEFA champion's league title beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final.

Now that he has signed to coach Real Madrid for the next 4 seasons, I see him winning the champions league which Marcello Lippi failed to win with the assemblage of world class players in his arsenal. With players like Christiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul Gonzalez, Higuain, Gutti, etc. Jose Maurinho would win several titles (domestic and continental) for the club, if only the club management would give him a free hand to make his selection and to determine the kinds of players to add to the team. Being a very respected coach who takes no nonsense from players, all players would surely give him his due respect and play in the role that they are assigned to play. As the new coach of Real Madrid, Jose Maurinho is set to make history again as he prepares to give them the champions league title which has eluded them for about a decade now.

Are Chelsea's New Signings Just A Burden On Abromavich's Pocket

William Gallas had a fallout with Mr .Mourinho and during the much publicized purchase of Ashley Cole, Gallas was offered in exchange as an icing on the cake.

Mourinho might have thought that Gallas did not do much but since he left, Cole has not yet quite filled his shoes. On the other hand Gallas is doing much more as a left back than Arsene Wenger might have ever dreamt of.

When rumors of Andriy Shevchenko's move to Chelsea reached the press, everyone including Chelsea's fans were thrilled at the thought of Andriy and Drogba teaming up. This dream just... well, just stayed a dream because we have seen nothing yet. Drogba and Shevchenko flow together the way water and fire would.

Even though this happened I myself thought the former European footballer of the year might just pull it off without Drogba but he has not adapted to the lightning quick pace of English football. We may just have to wait for a season or two before he finally clicks (I don't think he is quite in a hurry to leave if you consider he is being paid 120,000 pounds per week).

Michael Ballack left his beloved homeland of Germany (also for the price of 120,000 pounds per week) for England to use his experience as a midfielder to help Frank Lampard in the Chelsea midfield. This seemed like another duo that would have greatly prospered together considering their talent and exposure but they just have not clicked yet. Just like Shevchenko, Ballack has also been slow to learn the English style of playing (is it something to do with their hefty wages?). For your information Ballack has already been sent off once.

The only people who seem to be consistent are the Africans who play for Chelsea. Didier Drogba has never fallen short of goals, Michael Essien is doing a good job filling in for John Terry, the young talents of Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel seem to be growing in stature day by day and not to forget the good job done by the Frenchman Claude Makelele.

PS: Have you noticed of late how Abromavich doesn't seem as happy as he seemed before when Chelsea were winning every game? There have even been disturbing rumors that this is Mourinho's last season at Stamford Bridge.

PureVision Multi-Focals

If you are one of the increasing number of individuals being diagnosed with presbyopia and are overly concerned about it, don't be.

You are not alone. Onset presbyopia (difficulty focusing up close) is occurring to more people as the segment of the population 35 years of age and older grows. Within the next decade, that segment will increase by an additional 16 million. Changes in lifestyles, both at work and home, have made more demands on our near vision. Computer screens, I-phones, and PDAs, etc., keep our eyes busy many hours a day and is contributing to the population experiencing presbyopia earlier than previous generations.

Despite what one may think, contact lens users do not have to give in to the wearing of half eyes, bifocals, or reading glasses. The good news is that they can continue enjoying the benefits of contacts by switching to multi-focals. Even though multi-focal lenses exist, eye care professionals state only 2 out of 5 presbyopic patients realize they are available-or that these lenses can correct their condition. Multi-focals work similarly to progressive eyeglasses, as they have a range of powers in each lens. One's visual system learns to choose the proper power depending on how close or distant the focus. As it turns out in most cases, this adaptation occurs without difficulty-making multi-focals a viable alternative to monovision (a contact lens application where one eye is corrected for distance and the other for near vision).

Eye care professionals, seeing increasing satisfaction with fittings, are being encouraged to make patients aware of PureVision Multi-Focals, lenses which are among the leaders in correcting presbyopia. They allow wearers to focus at all distances, providing clear intermediate vision with easy transition to far and near. Active individuals hindered by glasses can now go from reading a book to using the computer or taking a drive with a renewed sense of freedom.

Comfort has been enhanced in the PureVision Multi-Focals by the lens' silicone hydrogel construction, in this case the trademarked AerGel material, which minimizes the buildup of dust, debris and proteins that can collect on the lens. They also stay moist and allow proper oxygen permeability, promoting healthy eyes. An innovative rounded-edge design contributes to the feeling of not wearing any contact lens at all.

Over 80% of multi-focal contact users state these lenses do not cause any interference or disruption in their lives. PureVision Multi-Focals also do much to preserve youthful appearance and confidence.

PureVision Multi-Focals have been approved for daily wear, or continuous wear up to thirty days. As always, consult your eye care professional in determining what is best suited for you.

Football FC Bedding For Your Kids

If your kids love the game of football then football club bedding is the way to go. Before buying FC beddings, you must know well in advance, which football club does your kids support. For example, if your kids like Manchester United, they would not like the look of bedding that has Chelsea or Arsenal in it. Once you are aware of the club your kids support, next you need to see players they love watching. Often, kids have two or three favorites with regard to players. You need to find a football club bedding with some exclusivity. It can be in the form of design, logo or style.

While some kids prefer bedding with the team logo and jersey, there are plenty of kids who want a photograph of their favorite player in the bedding. Bedding with team logo and jersey is normally more expensive as compared to the bedding with a picture of individual player. For example, if your kid is a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, he would like the football club bedding with a picture of Cristiano Ronaldo rather than a group photograph of all the team players.

Buying fc beddings for your kids:

Rather than buying from an official store of these football clubs, it is advisable that you buy from other online stores. This is because of the simple reason that official stores do not provide any discount on football club bedding. As there is not much to do in terms of style and design in beddings, your focus should be on the quality.

Buying bedding for your kids is not an easy task especially when you take into consideration the fact that there are so many football clubs playing in various countries. Football clubs from English Premier League are more popular among kids. It includes, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool FC and Chelsea. Spanish football clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona are also quite popular.

Make sure that football club bedding you have chosen is of high quality and is going to last for a long period of time.

Ergonomic Tools - The Value and Benefits

Ergonomic accessories can be classified into 3 general categories: Monitor Arms, Keyboard Trays, and Footrests. Some computer mouses are included in this conversation, but only a few. Anything else is really an office accessory, including CPU holders, glare filters and task lights. While not disputing the fact that these office accessories are valuable, they are not focused at providing the same benefits to one's body at work like the aforementioned 3 ergonomic categories.

Monitor arms became increasingly popular with the decrease in price of flat screen monitors - at first a tool for the hip, now a tool for comfort. Not only do they allow for more desk tabletop space by freeing up valuable real estate, but the true ergonomic benefit comes in the ability to position the monitor at the right height for the computer's user. Ideally, the top of the monitor should be level to users line of sight - this dissuades slouching or leaning to read the screen. If you use two monitors, a dual monitor arm may be employed, and the second monitor should be aligned an arms length in front of you and to the right of the main monitor. If you have a laptop, you can still use a monitor arm - you'll just need a monitor. By using a laptop tray, you can use your laptop monitor effectively without using a monitor arm.

What does "not slouching" do? Basically, your mother was right. (Funny how we always hear that as we grow older). The monitor arm prevents slouching, which means you are going to be in the optimal sitting position most of your work hours. Your back is going to be where it should be - leaning against the backrest. Why is leaning against the backrest good, aside from feeling good? Let's look at the shape of the chair to the shape of your spine. Notice the S shape of your spine and how it rests against the S shaped backrest? Most ergonomic chairs will have such a shaped backrest, so leaning all the way back allows your back to appropriately meet the backrest.

Keyboard trays also encourage proper ergonomics by keeping your arms at an even level. This posture of your arms will reduce the strain on the wrists that is commonly associated with constant and repetitive typing. Keyboard Trays are becoming more popular and are usually a more commonly bought accessory - installation requires only a few screws and the benefits are immediate. There are many different types of keyboard trays - they all pretty much function the same, so quality is where the price differences arise.

You may be one of the many people that employ a laptop. As I write this from a laptop, I can tell you that having a laptop is no excuse to eschew ergonomics. There are utilities available to take advantage of a keyboard tray and monitor arm with a laptop, such as a laptop docking tray.

Lastly, the ergonomic footrests. What is the benefit of that? None, if you don't use it right. (Like anything). An ergonomic footrests is generally made for two purposes - one, to give users a place to rest their feet on high chairs or seating areas or two, as an accessory to encourage movement of the feet while sitting. This constant motion won't burn many calories, but it will promote blood flow, which in turn reduces fatigue. And that's always nice. They even have some with massage balls - so you can get a nice massage in the workplace, provided your feet don't, well, smell.

The idea behind ergonomic accessories is to add overall comfort to the user's workplace atmosphere, and that is a goal that is not to be overlooked nor understated. The modern work lifestyle has evolved to the point where these items are not a luxury anymore- with people spending more and more time on a computer and on the Internet these days, being comfortable for a prolonged period of time is critical to overall well being.

Just think of how many hours a day you'd spend working in front of your computer, slouching forward and trying to make sense of the small text on the screen. (Make the font bigger, if you keep squinting!) A good monitor arm/keyboard tray/footrest combo will quickly and, if chosen right, inexpensively make your or your employees work days more efficient and better over the long run.

How to Find Inexpensive and Comfortable Office Chairs

Having a comfortable work setting is crucial in order to ensure a productive work environment as well as avoiding both minor and serious health issues. It is important to make sure both the work station set up and your office chair are contributing to your overall happiness and relaxation at work. Pains and aches throughout the day make work go by much slower and can have a negative affect on your overall mood. This can also lead to loss in productivity and missed days of work. Some office chairs are not properly designed to meet the needs of your body shape and can lead to back pain and other related problems. If you do not have $1,000 in your budget to purchase a great office chair, as most of us do not, fear not because it is possible to find a viable option for a considerable price. There are a few steps one could take in order to start their quest for a new comfortable yet inexpensive office chair, it just takes time, patience and a good attitude; remember you could be on your way to working comfortably all day!

The first step to take in the road to a better more affordable office chair is to start by researching different office chair options available; there are thousands of different office chairs out there but which is right for you? Many office chair websites offer specialized categories which can help you find a place to start looking. You can also make a note of a chair you find comfortable when visiting friends, family, or client's offices and look for comparable items. Many chairs are or have replicas that are much lower in price, and the differences between the real and the replica sometimes just come down to the name of the brand! You will also need to determine your budget and sort between chairs in that price range.

Once you have your budget figured out, it is essential to identify the key ergonomic features you will want in your office chair. Some features you maybe looking for are the overall height of the chair, the shape and contour of the back rest, the type of arm rests and whether the chair swivels or is fixed in place. Other features you may want to think about including in your search are ergonomic functions such as seat height, back height, knee tilt, movable arm rests, a seat slider, a ratchet back, and built in lumbar support. You will also need to consider the nature of your work; do you work in a call center sitting in a chair 12 hours a day or do you work from home 3-4 hours a day? You will also need to factor in your height and your weight, if you are under 5'3" you may want to opt for a petite office chair in order to fit your body or conversely if you are 6'4" you will want to look into a big and tall chair to support you. Your chair will need to fit into your pre-exisitng color scheme where you will be using it, so look into similar chair colors as what you already have going on.

Narrow your selection to 5-10 chairs that will satisfy your basic criteria. Compare the chairs side by side to determine which will be the best value for the price you will pay by looking at what they have to offer such as material, adjustments, style, and price point. A high back executive chair with a head rest and knee tilt mechanism may be on the high end of your budget, while a mid back mesh chair will be less expensive but also less durable in the long-haul. A vinyl or caressoft office chair makes a good alternative to a leather chair when price is concerned and look strikingly similar and have relatively the same comfort if material is not an issue to you. Similarly with fabric chairs there are many different grades and colors that are more expensive than others, so if you are on a tight budget constraint stick with the lower grade fabrics that are still designed for 40 hour a week usage.

When choosing among your final few choices, it comes to the point where you will need to determine which factors in your office chair's design are the most important to you. If you are purchasing the chair for yourself then you may be able to forget about the height adjustment feature and opt for a nicer more durable material. If you already have a lot of back pain from previous chairs look for a high back chair with a headrest that will give you plenty of lumbar support as opposed to a low back chair that will not offer full back support. If you are purchasing several chairs get a combination of mid-back and high-back chairs to accommodate varying heights. Every chair purchase is entirely dependent on who the purchaser is and what needs they need met. There is no one universal chair solution which is the beauty of being able to sort and choose between thousands of chairs online to find the right fit for you.

What Are the Qualities of a Football Team Striker?

Every team is like a useless pack of cards if there are no good strikers because you can't win a match without scoring goals and you can't score goals without having potent strikers. The question then is who is a striker? And what are the qualities of a good striker?

A striker is a football player whose responsibility is to score goals. This simply means that if a striker cannot score goals then he should not be in the team in the first place.

Now, let's look at the qualities of a good striker or forward. A good striker should have a clear vision just like a good goalkeeper. A good striker should be able to convert any chance to a goal. But he cannot just take his chances if he cannot see very well.

A good striker should have speed. This is where counter attack comes into play. If the strikers in a team lack speed then counter attacks become useless. If you take a look at Spanish, Argentine and Brazilian national teams you will appreciate the value of speed to any striker. Spanish, Argentine and Brazilian teams are so good at counter attacks simply because they have strikers that can move with the ball so fast.

A good striker should have what I call "goal sense". This simply means that he or she should know when to use the head or leg. He or she should know when to tap in the ball. He or she should know when to pass the ball to another player that is better positioned to score the goal. He or she should also know when to be selfish with the ball.

A good striker should have inner strength, vigor, stamina, or energy. He or she should be able to surmount any kind of opposition once he or she is with the ball. Great strikers of our time such as Samuel Eto'o Fils of Cameroon and FC Barcelona of Spain, Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast and Chelsea FC of England and Wayne Rooney of England and Manchester United of England are some graphic examples of strikers that have the much needed strength.

English Premier League Season 2008 - 09 - Which Teams to Watch For?

EPL has started for the third week so far.... Have you had any clue that which team will dominate this season? Is it going to be Chelsea who have a red hot start at the early stage of the season, or Manchester United who have yet to show their real strength, or Young Arsenal team who have lost one match last weekend but relived almost immediately after the young players were given a stern words from their coach.

From the immediate rebound performance of Arsenal, I am very positive that the young players are surely the hot contender for the English Premier Title this season. The young age and energy are the strength of this young team. They can beat any team in the league at their good form. However, they have to be focus which is their weakest link. Most of the players have played together for quite sometime and can gel well. After the loss to Fullham last week, they have learned the lesson well and beaten Twente in Champion League Group match during the mid week followed by a emphatic win over New Castle 3 - 0 this weekend.

Chelsea, on the other hand, has shown sign of fatigue after three matches. The first match was a fantastic one with 4 -0 win over Portsmouth, followed by another win 1 - 0 at Wigan but they only managed to draw with Tottenham 1 -1 at home this weekend. Well, thing will not look good for them if they continue to lose point like that at home.....

Manchester United has to decide their emphasis on which title they want....The mid week result did not go well for them when they lost to St. Petersburg 1 -2 in their Champion League Group match. It is not going to be easy to get the double titles again in this season.

At this early stage, it is still too early to predict which team will be the winner for EPL this season. However, if I have to pick one team it has to be Arsenal to win this season!

Be my guest and place your prediction. Visit my blog at the link below.

Mild Back Pain Relief - How Office Chairs and Ergonomics Can Help

When diagnosing the chairs or back support items that would be best for an individual, it is best to understand how severe a person's back pain is. To simplify matters, we classify back pain into three levels: mild, medium, and severe back pain. Mild can be described as slight pain - not any which would prevent you from sitting in your chair but where you would feel slight discomfort from time to time. Mild lumbar issues or upper shoulder discomfort are the most common mild back pain symptoms.

Medium back pain is pain that requires you to get up from time to time, and re-adjust your posture. It prevents you from sitting more than 2 hours at a time on a non-ergonomic chair. Severe back pain is usually diagnosed by a chiropractor or a physician, and requires special ergonomic seating arrangements. It can be best described as constant mild pain consistently throughout the day, with flare ups in pain throughout the day. This article will emphasize mild back pain, considering almost everyone in their lifetime will suffer from mild back pain at one point or another.

Relieving mild back pain can be as simple as training the muscles around the aggravated area to support the surrounding weaker back area, or getting a good chair. The former requires alternate sitting chairs, such as the Evolution Chair by Posture Perfect, the Kore Stool, or the Saddle Stool by Office Star. As you may have noticed, all three of these items have no backrest. While this may seem counterproductive to the issue at hand, by removing the backrest, you are forcing yourself into adopting the proper posture - thus forcing your muscles learning how to sit in this position.

Remembering to sit in the proper position is key - in your initial use of these alternative sitting chairs, you may lapse in posture, but as your use of the products increases, it will become second nature. This will not only help your back but also help your overall posture while you are walking, standing and in any other position you should find yourself. There are a few key items to remember about alternative sitting chairs. The first is that your body will not be used to sitting is these chairs for an extended period of time - they are different. You will most likely be sore in various areas of your back as well, again, because they are not used to the posture. To reduce these issues, it is recommended you follow a gradual acclimation schedule, i.e. use the chair for half an hour the first day, and each day add 15 minutes until you can comfortable use the chair as your main seating utensil.

If you are not inclined to use alternative seating, then there are various things you should be looking for in a chair to relieve mild back pain. You can generally get away with any chair, but looking for a few key variables will help. A good initial feature to look for is a passive lumbar support. This means the chair should have lumbar support built in to the frame, meaning it should have an S-shaped backrest, which conforms to the S shape of your spine. By having a chair that has such contour, your back should fit well into the chair. By fitting well into the chair, you will be getting support at all the crucial points of your back, including the lumbar and the upper back - the two common mild back pain areas.

A third, more conventional way of relieving mild back pain, specifically in the lumbar region, is with the use of an add-on product, such as the Jobri Large Half-Roll Lumbar Support. A product such as this will provide additional lumbar support to the desired region. Mild back pain relief is relatively easy to deal with and is easy to overcome. As with any person with back pain, it is always recommend taking breaks from your desk to walk around and give your muscles a chance to relax.

Can Chelsea Win the British Premier League This Year?

Chelsea are quite rightly considered one of the strongest teams in the British Premier League, Europe and the world. They have a squad that would be the envy of almost any club except maybe Real Madrid. They have a squad that is full of international players and could arguably field two teams of internationals except for the goal-keeping position where they have Ross Turnbill and Hilario as back up. They have Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Mikel, Deco just to name a few of their plethora of international midfielders.

With a squad like this to choose from you can see why many football pundits are tipping them to win the British Premier League. If you see the odds that the bookmakers are putting up for Chelsea you can see that they too believe Chelsea are true title contenders and we know that the bookies are very rarely ever wrong.

There only contenders to Chelsea are the other three of the "Big Four" of the British Premier League who are Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United. Manchester United are the title holders from last year and have a great squad, The biggest question is whether they can overcome the loss of Ronaldo who is arguably the best player in the world and was also the top scorer for Manchester United for the last two years. Then there is Arsenal who play irresistible football going forward but still have questions about their defense after losing Kolo Toure to Manchester City. Chelsea have a great chance to win the British Premier League this year and will be in the race till the very end.

Chelsea's Greatest Player - Gianfranco Zola

Zola began his footballing career with Sardinian side Nuorese in the early eighties, he also spent three seasons at Torres before signing for Serie A team Napoli in 1989. Alongside Zola at Napoli were football stars such as Diego Maradona and Brazilian striker Careca. Zola spent many hours training with Maradona and admitted to learning everything from the Argentine.

Ruud Hullit signed Zola for Chelsea in 1996 for £4.5 million. Zola fitted in straight away, unlike many Italian players who find it hard to adapt to the pace of English football, he was instrumental in helping the side reach the FA Cup final which they went on to win, beating Middlesbrough 2-1. At the end of the season he was voted FWA Player Of The Year, the first Chelsea player ever to do so.

His skill, agility and goal scoring instincts helped Chelsea reach another FA Cup final in 2000 when they beat Aston Villa 1-0. Zola forged a great striking partnership with Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank and also went on the score one of the best ever goals for Chelsea. In an FA cup tie against Norwich, he back heeled a corner inside the near post as the ball was in mid air.

During the 2001/2002 season, new manager Claudio Ranieri was keen to introduce younger blood to the squad and Zola was often sidelined. He returned to Italy in 2003 to play for Cagliari in his native Sardinia.

In 2003 Zola was voted Chelsea's best ever player and a year later he recieved an OBE, an honorary member of the British Empire in a ceremony in Rome.

Fantasy Football (Soccer) 09-10 - A Simple Strategy

It's that time of year again. The British summer is drawing to a close and the majority of Premier League teams have spent their budget for the season and most transfer business is over (well, with the exception of Man City!). Now is the time to put together the fantasy football team, and with the following strategy in, thoroughly thrash your mates and work colleagues.

1. Learnings from last season
2. Goalkeeper and defenders
3. The 'must haves'
4. The bargains
5. Taking risks
6. Transfers

Learnings from last season

In terms of top scoring players, last season threw up few surprises. Ronaldo, Gerrard, Lampard and Vidic all scored well. The big surprise last season though was the emergence of Dirk Kuyt. The Liverpool striker was always admired for his work rate but all too often posed no real goal threat. However, last season he found a new lease of life, reinvented by Rafa Benitez on the right side of Liverpool's three pronged attack that saw Steven Gerrard operating as a 2nd striker. In this role, Kuyt became a consistent provider of assists as well as scoring some important goal, accumulating 177 points along the way. This is a fantastic return for a striker who only cost £5.9m.

The other surprise star of last season came in the form of Man City's free scoring midfielder Steven Ireland. There is a certain irony that the richest club in the world's player of the season was a player who came up through the youth system and had mostly been playing second fiddle to Michael Johnson the year before. Steven Ireland contributed 131 points for a mere £3.4m.

From this it would seem that the big learning from last season is to look to the midfield for the most points for your pound. Strikers converted to wingers playing in a 4-3-3 formation are a must.

Goalkeepers and defenders

The performance of goalkeepers and defenders more than any other position in Fantasy Football is dictated by the team they play for rather than their own ability. Players such as Matthew Upson and Jonathan Woodgate are good defenders in their own right but if the team they play for leaks goals, they will get you many points.

You shouldn't over spend in these areas as goalkeepers and defenders' main source of points is from clean sheets and therefore can only get you so many points. Where possible, go for attack minded full back who can get you a few assists through the season.

Fantasy Football Info recommends: Johnson (Liverpool. £4.0m)

The 'must haves'

Until this summer, there was only one name in this section. But with Ronaldo's departure to La Liga, the title of 'must have' player is up for grabs. For me, it boils down to one of two players - the consistent goal threat of Chelsea's Frank Lampard or the pure inspiration of Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. Both players play every game when they are fit, bother score bags of goals, take free kicks and corners, are the teams' preferred penalty taker.

Last season, Lampard shaved it with 243 points to Gerrard's 202 although Gerrard was injured for parts of the season.

Fantasy Football Info recommends: Gerrard (Liverpool. £6.5m)

The Bargains

The true key to a winning Fantasy Football team is picking up the bargain players. The ability to predict who from the newly promoted clubs will do well and which squad players from the rest of the Premier League will hold down a first team place. Choose your bargains wisely. Had you predicted the injury plagued season of Ricardo Carvalho and selected Alex, this foresight would have gained you 127 points for a player worth just £3.8m.

Fantasy Football Info recommends: Valencia (Man Utd. £3.5m)

Taking Risks

As with picking out the bargain players for the season, it is also worth looking at taking a calculated risk on some of the lesser teams and the newly promoted teams. In most Premier League seasons there is always on surprise team who over achieve - Fulham last Season, Reading in their first season. If you can predict which of these teams will be the surprise, you can pick yourself up some try bargain players.

Fantasy Football Info recommends: Ebanks-Blake (Wolves. £4.9m)

Transfers

The 30 transfer the Daily Telegraph give to each manager can decide how you fair. Use too many, too soon and you risk being left with half a team when the injuries and suspensions start to mount up at the end of the season. Soldier stubbornly on with your original team despite some unexpected poor performers and you'll be a hundred points off the pace before you know it. The best advice I can give for making transfers is don't panic! Give the season some time to unfold, don't jump in and change your strikers just because they haven't score in the first week. Give it three or four games and see how the land lies.

Make sure you also keep an eye on upcoming fixtures. If one of your defenders next four games is Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal then it may be worth taking in him out until after that particular run of games is over.

Injuries also play a key role in the transfer strategy of most Fantasy Football Managers. The important thing with injuries is to monitor the anticipated return date of your injured player. If one of your star players is out for more than 2 weeks, make the change. If it's one of your cheaper bargain players out for a couple of weeks it's not worth wasting a transfer. In general, any player out of action for 3 weeks or more needs to be replaced.

Making transfers at the right time is an art form. Good luck - see you at the top of the league!

The Aluminium Wars - RUSAL and New Russian Economic Power

Aluminium doesn't strike many people as an exciting or interesting metal but a new book "Mafia In Black" by Andrei Kalitin outlines a story that was to see the so called "aluminum wars" wage and claim over 100 lives.

From this turbulent period, RUSAL has emerged as a symbol of new Russian economic power.

Russia has emerged, not just as an economic force in Aluminium but is important to the world economy in terms of a whole host of commodities.

The Aluminium Wars

In the "aluminium wars" rivals fought for control of Russian smelters in the 1990's.Today, these days are long gone and the wars are over - but the emergence of RUSAL, has seen how high the stakes were.

There were of course winners and losers in the aluminium wars and this is covered in new book "Mafia in Black", by Andrei Katitin (recently he claimed he was shot in the shoulder by a gunman outside his apartment which he believes is linked to the book) "Mafia in Black" is a fascinating read, on a period of immense change in Russian society and the economy generally.

The Emergence of the Russian Oligarch On A Global Stage

The story of the "Aluminium wars" is of interest to many observers of Russian society, as it covers a period when the country was in a period of transition, into a free market economy from the old regulated Soviet economy.

A major question that many observers of Russia are interested in is - how did the mega rich Russians make their money?

This interest was heightened when one of Russia's richest men, walked into west London and bought Chelsea FC. Roman Abramovich, was a Russian oligarch who was at the time generally unknown in the west at the time but is now a household name.

He bailed out Chelsea football club to the tune of $140 million and has gone on to spend in excess of $500 million on the club - a huge sum but small change to Russia's second-richest man.

But how did he get it?

Through various businesses which grew during the turbulent period, that followed the collapse of the old Soviet Union. His move into the aluminium industry, was seen as the conclusion of the "Aluminium wars".

So why did 100 people die and why is there so much controversy about the period?

The stakes were high and a look at the Russian aluminum industry today, shows how high they were and what was at stake finacially. Today, the Russian Aluminium industry is consolidated in one company - referred to as Russian Aluminium or RUSAL.

The Emergence of RUSAL

The company is a true heavyweight in the aluminium industry. In Siberia it operates 5 huge aluminium smelters and two massive refineries -- but its influence now goes a lot further and it's now a global player.

RUSAL recently overtake Alcoa and Alcan as the largest aluminium producer in the world after merging with its nearest rival Sual.

The facts behind RUSAL, clearly show its importance in the world metal and aluminimum industry. RUSAL is the world's largest aluminium and alumina producer, with 12% of the world's aluminium market, 15% of the global production, has operations in 19 countries and employs around 100,000 people.

Russian Inc Goes Global

Oleg Deripaska, is Russia's undisputed aluminium king and Deripaska, is one of Russia's richest and most influential businessmen and is one of the Russian oligarchs who reflects the new economic power of Russia.

He has excellent connections to the current regime; he is related by marriage to former President Boris Yeltsin and is close to Vladimir Putin.

"The aluminium wars" were played out in a period where Russia was struggling to come to terms with the transition from the old Soviet style economy, to a new free market. Many observers in the west simply saw the Russia economy in a period of decline and corruption, which it would never recover from - but today, the perception of Russia is very different.

Russia Takes Its Place On the World Stage

Russia has huge natural reserves of a huge host of commodities and commodity prices are rising fast.

Putin has capitalized on booming oil and commodities prices as a means to recover Russia's lost status as a great power.

Russia is now being taken more seriously on both a political and economic level, than at anytime since the break up of the old Soviet regime.

It's importance in feeding the world with commodities, to fuel global economic growth and the emergence of RUSAL from the turbulent period of the "aluminimum wars" is a reflection of this.

Today, Russia has re gained its national pride and is able to take its place as a major economic force. Companies such as RUSAL, are a reflection of the momentous changes that have taken place in the Russian economy in recent years.

From the turbulent period of the "aluminium wars" featured in "Mafia in Black", to a major player in the world's commodity markets, Russia is back as a major force in the world economy.

Avoid Scammers

The scammers that send these fraud letters are criminals. They want your money, and they use force to get it, if that is necessary. Secret Service has a warning on that here. I found such stories hard to believe until I recently was contacted by a friend. One of his friends, let me call her S, was killed in Lagos, Nigeria when she was trying to help a "dying man", that had contacted her.

This is what my friend told me:

It all started about 3 months back she was chatting as all we do in yahoo messenger. I was in Miami that time so we both were chatting. She told me that she is going to Lagos for her modelling show as she was a model working for a TV channel. She started receiving mails from Lagos from a guy names "Garuba". He used to mail her saying that he is a severe cancer patient and needs 1000 dollars for his urgent surgery. S told me that she received at least about 10 mails from him in that month. As she was supposed to go to Lagos she thought that it will be good to help someone who needs operation for a deadly disease like cancer. I remember that i was the only who dropped her to airport when she was leaving for Lagos. Everything was fine for a month. She used to call him once a week and she used to sound very normal. In her last call she told me she have helped him (scammer whom she didn't knew) with 1000 dollars for his surgery, and it was normal. But suddenly he started asking for more and more money, which she refused to give. She mailed me saying that "He abuses her on phone". I told her to leave Lagos soon.

After that I never talked to her. I tried to take Nigerian police help but they were bribed by those 419 scammers and police didn't take my case. As you suggested me, I contacted the Embassy in Nigeria for S. I got the worst news of my life that she is no more. She was admitted is the city hospital in Lagos by Nigerian police. The Embassy found news about her. Local doctors said that she passed away after she was brought to hospital. Police are guessing that she was been beaten to death. Doctors are saying that she was raped too. According to DNA reports she was brutally raped by more than 4 men's and beaten to death.

I need you to put this in your site so everyone comes to know that "Even the people who ask for money for there treatment is scammers ". This is the main aim that we need to show people. I f you place this in your site , people will be aware that " Illness is also a reason which scammers are using to spoils any girls live by raping her, and also scamming the money , and everyone gets aware".

Mail from a stranger

Did you receive a letter from a complete stranger promising you millions? Or did you receive an offer for millions of dollars while you were dating on the net?
I have received a lot of these letters, and they are all filled with lies. There is below an example of them.

Maybe your letter was similar to one of mine?

Maybe you received a letter telling you that you won in a lottery that you never heard of?
- Or maybe someone offered to an easy work-at-home job, where you have to receive money on behalf of a company?
If scammers failed to get you as a victim, they might try again with the use of a compensation letter.
