Things to Do in Chelsea, Manhattan New York

Chelsea is a neighborhood on Manhattan's West Side. Along with Hell's Kitchen to the north, it is sometimes referred to as Manhattan West.

The neighborhood is famous for its night life, shopping, art scene and the Piers. It comes then as no surprise that huge luxury rental buildings are always full of visitors and tourists.

Places to Eat in Chelsea, Manhattan

One great place to eat is Francisco's, a restaurant where they serve the best lobsters and sangria that is to-die-for. Francisco's is crowded, noisy and great for the whole gang. If you desire a trendier scene, Elmo offers chic comfort food and cocktails. For the best home-brewed beers and a view of the Hudson River, sit outside at the Chelsea Brewing Company.

Chelsea, Manhattan Nightlife

Chelsea's hottest nightspots include Marquee, Bungalow 8, and Serena at the Chelsea Hotel. If clubbing is not your thing, check out the comedy shows at the Upright Citizen's Brigade.

Chelsea, Manhattan Sports and Recreation Spots

The Chelsea Piers has many recreational facilities that offer something for everyone - golfing, bowling, skating, rock climbing, etc. Kids' can take part in sports programs including soccer, gymnastics, and baseball. Work up a sweat at the fitness center, pamper yourself at the deluxe spa, bike or rollerblade down the Hudson River Esplanade - the opportunities for fun are endless.

Chelsea Historic District

Chelsea has come a long way since it began as a family farm in 1750. Immerse yourself in the neighborhood's rich history by visiting the Historic District where you will find 19th century architecture. Also make it a point to see Chelsea Hotel, a bohemian landmark and former residence of writers and artists such as William S. Burroughs and Bob Dylan. The hotel's greatest claim to fame however is being the place where Sid Vicious killed his girlfriend, Nancy.
