Chelsea FC is one of the oldest football clubs in the Premier league. Founded in 1905, Chelsea plays at Stamford Bridge in the West London borough of Hammermith and Fulham. Stamford Bridge has the capacity for 41,841 fans. The club play in a royal blue kit with white socks. The crest features a ceremonial lion holding a staff.
Ted Drake became manager in 1952 and set about modernising the club, removing the Chelsea pensioners crest, improving the training facilities and rebuilding the team.
In the 1954 - 55 season they won the League Championship.
Chelsea heroes include Ron Harris, Peter Bonetti, Bobby Tambling, Jimmy Greaves, Peter Osgood, Pat Nevin, GianFranco Zola, Dennis Wise and Marcel Desailly. These days the squad consists of many of the best international players from around the world, players such as Frank lampard, John Terry, Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, Michael Ballack, Deco, Florent Malouda and Michael Essien.
Chelsea were bought in 2003 by Russion oil tycoon Roman Abramovich. Abramovich has ploughed millions in to the club and has made them a powerhouse in world football.
Chelsea's biggest London rivals are Arsenal, Spurs, Fulham and West Ham.
