Wedding Budgeting - 5 Ways You Can Save Money on Your Wedding

Weddings can be very expensive and add up quickly. Every couple has a vision for how their big day will be. Sometimes the price tag doesn't allow us to see that dream play out. This article will help you cut costs and still allow you to have the perfect wedding you've been dreaming about.

1. Catering- What kind of food and who caters it is a very flexible decision. Do some research and find a caterer that has been in business for a long time. Chances are they have fine tuned there business to be customer oriented, assuring that you are getting the best deals. Also decide what you want to serve. If a full course meal is something you just want to have, talk with the caterer and ask about different dishes. For example, a chicken course is going to be cheaper than a sea food option. Also, don't exclude a family style buffet. It can save you lots of money and can give your guests a more welcoming atmosphere. Another option to be considered is doing a desserts buffet. The cost is half of what a catered dinner is going to cost, yet you still have an elegant and classy touch to your menu.

2. Tableware- Some caterers will provide settings and tableware in the cost of the food. However, it may be cheaper to provide your own tableware and ask them to set it up. Disposable table ware has come a long ways and isn't as tacky or unreliable as it used to be. Find a wholesale store and you can get great tableware for a very low cost. It is going to save you a lot of money on the catering bill not only because you are providing it, but the caterer doesn't have to add a cleanup charge.

3. Flowers- Flowers can be a big expense especially if you are like me and love fresh ones. I recommend finding a shop or a part time florist who is just starting out. The arrangements and styles will be new and very exact, but the prices will be manageable. Word of mouth is a girls best friend when planning a wedding. Ask your family or friends if they know of anyone who will do arrangements at cost. Make sure you sit down with the florist and design your bouquet. Letting them design the other arrangements are not as important. You can save a lot of money by being present for the bouquet design. Research the flowers that are in season during your wedding and those that aren't. If a flower isn't in season it is going to cost more and be harder to find.

4. Pictures- Pictures can be the most important part of your wedding. Again one of the best tools to finding a quality photographer at a great price is word of mouth. Search wedding blogs and albums and see what style you like. Chances are there is a local amateur that can shoot exactly what you want for half the price. Be clear on how much time you want him shooting and what primary photos you would like taken. Photographers will work well with you if you communicate with them.

5. Invitations- There are plenty of ways to spend a lot of money when it comes to invitations. Sometimes simple is the best when it comes to areas like this. You can save a lot of money just by an elegant and simple design choice. Be practical when decided on invitations. Don't settle for something you dislike, but work directly with a provider to find something that you can be happy with.
